State Chamber of Oklahoma releases statement on House Bill 2366

House Bill 2366 to ensure the most qualified judicial candidates from across the state

Oklahoma City (April 17, 2019) – After the Oklahoma Senate passed House Bill 2366 by Rep. Chris Kannady (R-Oklahoma City) and Sen. Julie Daniels (R-Bartlesville), Fred Morgan, president and CEO of the State Chamber of Oklahoma, released the following statement:

“The reform passed today in House Bill 2366 is long overdue. We are thankful to Sen. Daniels and Rep. Kannady for championing this bill.”

“Oklahoma’s Supreme Court districts were drawn in 1967. Obviously, a lot has changed in our state since then, especially shifts in Oklahoma’s population distribution. That’s why we at the State Chamber made this issue a part of our OK2030 plan. To move forward as a state, we must allow for the greatest judicial talent pool across both urban and rural areas of Oklahoma. House Bill 2366 will accomplish just that.”
