Making Oklahoma the State of Choice for Business

State Chamber Champions are crucial partners in setting a positive agenda for business in Oklahoma. When you invest in our Champion Program, you invest in the advocacy, research, legal and communications efforts needed to generate legislative results. Champion dollars support the following initiatives: 
 

Legislative Advocacy

  • Recruiting and helping ensure the election of pro-business leaders
  • Educating constituents about policies that affect Oklahoma's economy and businesses (through direct mail, newspaper editorials, advertising, action alerts, etc.)
  • Holding lawmakers accountable for their votes while in office
  • Supplying voters with tools to communicate directly with elected officials on pro-growth issues
  • Providing financial resources to advocate for or against state questions that have business implications
     

Political Advocacy

  • Vetting candidates through issue surveys and in-person interviews
  • Providing political intelligence through candidate profiles, campaign finance data, polling data and race-specific analysis
  • Contributing to pro-business candidate campaigns through our We Mean Business political action committee (PAC)

Legal Expertise and Advocacy through the Oklahoma Civil Justice Council

  • Filing amicus briefs that support pro-growth laws and regulations
  • Defending pro-business legislation in court
  • Evaluating judges on important business cases in appellate courts, workers’ compensation appellate court and the Oklahoma Supreme Court

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC RESEARCH THROUGH THE STATE CHAMBER RESEARCH FOUNDATION

  • Funding professional research on issues relevant to the business community Informing current and future business policy discussions 
  • Creating and disseminating high-caliber research publications and interactive data 
  • Monitoring and sharing metrics of the successes of pro-business policies
     

EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE ALIGNMENT THROUGH OKLAHOMA Achieves

  • Developing policies to better match our K-12 education system to workforce needs
  • Engaging the business community in helping improve academic opportunity for all Oklahoma students
  • Connecting education outcomes to Oklahoma's economy and the needs of employers
     

GRASSROOTS ENGAGEMENT THROUGH CHAMBER ACTION NETWORK (CAN) 

  • Enlisting local chambers and economic development organizations (EDOs) to ensure the voice of every business is heard at the State Capitol 
  • Keeping CAN members informed during the legislative session through weekly emails and bi-weekly conference calls on important legislation 
  • Creating shareable toolkits, fliers, social media graphics and other resources to promote positive outcomes for Oklahoma’s business climate
