State Chamber of Oklahoma applauds signing of Senate Bill 1001

Oklahoma City (April 23, 2019) – After Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed Senate Bill 1001 into law, Fred Morgan, president and CEO of the State Chamber of Oklahoma, released the following statement:

“Gov. Stitt made the right call today when he signed Senate Bill 1001.”

“Senate Bill 1001 by Sen. James Leewright and Rep. Dustin Roberts is key to a healthy economy for consumers and businesses. Without this law, cities across Oklahoma would have been able to add taxes and fees to paper and plastic products that we and our consumers use every day.”

“Allowing municipalities, counties, or political subdivisions to enact their own taxes or bans creates a regulatory patchwork while driving up costs—costs that customers will ultimately be forced to pay.”
