Pension Reform Bill Headed to Governor

Protects current state workers while helping long-term stability of pension system

Oklahoma City (May 21, 2014) – State Chamber of Oklahoma President and CEO Fred Morgan made the following statement after final passage of House Bill 2630 in the Senate which sends pension reform to the governor’s desk:

“Changing future state workers to a defined contribution system not only benefits the state and its $11-billion unfunded mandate. It also makes state jobs more attractive to a new generation of worker who is used to a 401(k) style of retirement system that they can take from job to job. We applaud Representative Randy McDaniel, Senator Rick Brinkley and legislative leaders for making this important reform possible.”
