OK2030 Initiative Aims to Put Oklahoma at the Top of National Rankings

State Chamber of Oklahoma Research Foundation Announces Statewide Vision Plan

Oklahoma City (March 21, 2017) – The State Chamber of Oklahoma Research Foundation announced today a strategic vision and action plan to enhance Oklahoma’s national standing.

“Oklahoma is falling behind. Despite incredible people and resources, our state ranks near the middle or the bottom of many national ratings related to our economy and quality of life,” said Dr. Jennifer Lepard, Executive Director of the State Chamber of Oklahoma Research Foundation.

“We can’t afford to be complacent about Oklahoma’s future,” said Lepard. “Fortunately, Oklahoma’s business community recognizes the gravity of the situation and is stepping up to help effect change through the OK2030 initiative.”

The OK2030 Steering Committee includes some of Oklahoma’s foremost business leaders and job creators: Brad Krieger (Arvest Bank), Steve Hahn (AT&T), David Rainbolt (BancFirst), Ted Haynes (BlueCross BlueShield of Oklahoma), Steve Hendrickson (Boeing), Bill G. Lance, Jr. (Chickasaw Nation), Kristin Peck (Cox Communications), Larry Nichols (Devon), Brent Copeland (Goodyear), Kevin Gross (Hillcrest Medical Center), Bill Schonacher (IBC), Xavier Neira (Manhattan Construction), Sean Trauschke (OG&E), and H.J. Reed (Phillips 66).

“OK2030 is a three-year initiative of the Research Foundation to position Oklahoma for long-term success,” said Fred Morgan, President and CEO of the State Chamber of Oklahoma. “OK2030 will help ensure a thriving economy and the quality of life that all Oklahomans deserve. Together with the Research Foundation and a statewide coalition of visionary leaders, we’re working to chart a better course for our state.”

In developing the OK2030 strategic plan, the State Chamber Research Foundation will be gathering input from business leaders and the public. The vision plan will be introduced in December 2017 after nine months of strategic research, interviews and town halls across the state. The plan will define specific goals, identify effective strategies and track progress toward key milestones.
